Critical Equipment Needed

To date, Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem has treated about 250 patients, both soldiers and civilians, for physical injuries and about 300 more cared for in our mental health emergency unit during those first several weeks.

We are now being regularly called upon to treat soldiers evacuated directly from the field of battle in the south.  The patients arrive via helicopter to the adjacent athletic field and are immediately transferred to our Trauma Unit.  Since the beginning of the war we have received about 25 soldiers via helicopter and Shaare Zedek’s helipad is now officially recognized for patient transfers. Many of those patients arrive in serious condition and there are multiple cases where the dedication and experience of our staff has been instrumental in saving lives, limbs and vision.  There is a remarkable sense of dedication in treating these patients and we can all feel a great sense of pride in Shaare Zedek’s place in the war effort.
