Dear Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we are writing to you at this time, straight after the chagim, regarding the horrific situation that unfolded in Israel over the weekend. We want to thank those of you who have been in touch, and to provide you with an update from the Hospital.
At present, Shaare Zedek is treating about two dozen patients who have been evacuated to the Hospital for care, and for the first time in decades, a nearby athletic field was used as the hospital’s helipad.
The Hospital has opened an emergency mental health response center in order to help a growing number of people who are suffering from shock and other symptoms related to the constant flow of terrible news. With many doctors and nurses being called up to active duty, the Hospital is also being forced to contend with staffing challenges. These are difficult days, but the work of Shaare Zedek must go on.
For those of you who are in Israel, please stay safe. For any of you who may have family or friends directly or indirectly affected, we hope that they too are safe. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone.
We will share any further updates we have from Shaare Zedek. For the time being our hearts are with our friends, colleagues and families at this devastating time and our thoughts are with everyone affected by the current crisis.
Am Yisrael Chai.
