Football fans and most other people in North America know that a football game of some significance is scheduled to be played this Sunday, February 7. Traditionally, halfway through the game, an extravagantly-produced musical performance is aired. The musical performance is known to sometimes be a source of discomfort to parents, particularly in religious families, who otherwise are enjoying the game with their young children. To help accommodate those families the Nachum Segal Network is presenting its own Kosher Halftime Show, this year starring Lipa Schmeltzer. Once again, the American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem is a proud sponsor.

On Monday morning, February 1, 2016, American Committee for Shaare Zedek CEO Rachel Wolf appeared on Nachum Segal’s JM in the AM morning drive program, which airs on three radio stations in the greater New York-New Jersey area (91.1 FM WFMU in Northern/Central New Jersey/New York City, 90.1 FM WMFU in the Catskills, and 91.9 FM in Rockland County, NY) as well as internationally at and on the NSN App for iOS and Android smartphones.

They discussed Shaare Zedek’s remarkable growth, including our 2016 priority — the development of neurology and neurosurgery departments and a state-of-the-art stroke unit — and Rachel shared a wonderful story about a patient in Shaare Zedek’s Wilf Children’s Hospital, and details about this summer’s opportunity to “see the world” with the American Committee for Shaare Zedek.

The Kosher Halftime Show will pre-tape at the Teaneck Doghouse on motza’ei Shabbat, February 6, the night before the game. Lipa Schmeltzer and the Neshoma Orchestra will rehearse at 8:30 pm and tape the Kosher Halftime Show at 9:00 pm. Audience members are welcome to attend, space permitting. The show will air at halftime of the big game on Sunday, February 7 — the video presentation will become available on the Nachum Segal Network homepage at, while an audio-only version will air at the same time on the NSN stream at and on the NSN App.

An American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem advertisement will air during the Kosher Halftime Show production. It will ask viewers to tag their social media photos taken during the game with #ShaareZedekUS, and to follow ACSZ’s new Twitter account @ShaareZedekUS.
