On November 1, 2026, I will be running 26.2 miles in the TCS New York City Marathon, raising $10,000 for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem — representing my family, friends, and Judaism with pride and joy every step of the way.
I’m running because today, Jewish identity feels more visible, more consequential, and more personal, and I’m embracing it with intention and pride.
As Sarah Hurwitz says in response to rising antisemitism, instead of trying to “bail out a tsunami with buckets,” we should build an ark — a strong and lasting foundation of Jewish life, built on community, culture, and learning, that gives our lives meaning and direction.
I’m building this ark in my own life: wearing my Judaism proudly, celebrating Shabbat with family and friends, participating in the Shapiro Family Fellowship with UJA, and traveling to Israel in June 2026 to engage with Israeli society and current events alongside Israeli and diaspora peers.
In an amazing effort, due to the war with Iran, Shaare Zedek converted 4 underground parking floors into a fully functioning hospital. With the remarkable help of our staff, our patients were moved underground to ensure their safety so that they could continue receiving critical care during these most challenging times.

Shaare Zedek treats over 1.2 million patients every year, including more than 100,000 children. As the largest hospital in Jerusalem, with more than 1,000-beds, it combines cutting-edge research, advanced treatments, and a deep commitment to caring for every person.
The Hospital is also home to one of the busiest maternity departments in the world, delivering more than 20,000 babies each year, which is triple the number delivered in most hospitals. As Jerusalem’s most active Level 1 Trauma Center, Shaare Zedek provides rapid, lifesaving care to patients in critical condition, supporting families during their most vulnerable moments.
By running this race, I’m taking on a personal challenge that reflects the Hospital’s spirit of determination and resilience — and I’d love your support to help me reach my goal!
All contributions are fully tax-deductible.
Thank you for partnering with me and helping thousands of patients receive exceptional care at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
