Gail Propp

After graduating from Barnard College in 1965, Gail Propp went to work for IBM. Three years later, she was recruited by Abercrombie and Fitch and became their Corporate Director of Systems and Programming. She founded a software development and consulting company in 1976 and, four years later, added a direct mail medical marketing company that was instrumental in launching such brands as Accutane and Canola Oil to physicians. Slim-Fast Foods absorbed her software company in 1994, and she became SVP/CIO and Dir. of Medical Marketing. She served on the executive steering committee of Slim-Fast until it was sold in 2000.

Gail is a founding board member of Sharsheret, a national organization that provides peer support to young Jewish women diagnosed with breast and/or ovarian cancer, and Neurodiversity Alliance, a national mentoring program for students with learning differences. She is Vice-President of SSEJ, (Struggle to Save Ethiopian Jewry), which helps to support and advocate for the Jewish community languishing in Ethiopia. Gail is on the Executive Board of Brown-RISD Hillel, the Advisory Board of The Algemeiner, and serves as an active honorary trustee of the Ramaz School. She is a member of the board of Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun and StandWithUs and serves as Vice-President and Secretary of the Board of American Friends of Bar-Ilan University, as well as on its Global Board and Global Steering Committee.

Following in the footsteps of her parents, Goody and Oscar Dane, ז״ל, supporters of Shaare Zedek more than 50 years ago, Gail has been an integral member of the Shaare Zedek Family and Shaare Zedek Women’s Division Board for decades. She is one of the original visionaries of our successful Women’s Health Day and has brought her passion for medicine and community-building to enhance every initiative in which she is involved.

Gail is the proud mother of Eric (Yonina) Gomberg, David (Sophia) Gomberg, Anna (Gedaliah) Riesenberg and grandmother to 12 of the most wonderful grandchildren. B”H! Gail was blessed to have been married to the love of her life, Ephraim (Ephie) ז״ל, whom she misses every day.
