Mindy Mitzner Zisholtz was raised in Far Rockaway, NY by her loving parents, Marion and Norman Rosenman, z”l. From an early age, she and her sister Dassy were taught the importance of community and volunteerism. In 1981, Mindy studied at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and while traveling in Israel, she learned firsthand how important it was to support organizations in Israel. Mindy was married in 1983, and moved to Houston, TX where she was blessed to build her family. She is the proud mother of Stephanie and Steven Mitzner, Laura and Steven Paletz and Michael Mitzner, and grandmother of Gabe, Kate Hailey, Harper and Theo.
A retired Recreational Therapist, Mindy spent many years caring for geriatric patients, helping to increase their joy and well-being through many different activities. She has always been active in her children’s schools, and served as the PTA President, a Board member and Chairman of the Board of Education. In Houston, Mindy was also very involved in her synagogue, United Orthodox, serving as Sisterhood president for two terms. She served as a board member of The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston for many years and as their Women’s Division Chair for three years. She has also been involved with the State of Israel
Bonds, Jewish Federation, Seven Acres JHA, Ben Gurion University, HODS, Yad Vashem and Amit.
Sixteen years ago, Mindy’s dear friend Sharon Goldwyn introduced her to the amazing work and care given at Shaare Zedek. She was impressed by their mission, and by the way they incorporate Halachic ethics into their medical decisions.
In 2019 Mindy married Dr. Barry Zisholtz and relocated to beautiful Atlanta, GA. With Barry at her side, they continue to support the wonderful work of Shaare Zedek. She gained eight more wonderful children: Evan and Diana Zisholtz, Katie and Jeremy Zisholtz, Stefanie and David Fishman, and Becca and Ricky Zisholtz and another 12 beautiful grandchildren: Allie, Kate, Vivian, Arielle, Eli, Isaac, Ahuva, Jake, Ava, Emma, Evie and Nora; a mother-in-law and many more siblings! Mindy is a lover of animals, and still has her 13-year-old dog Zoey! One of her favorite pastimes is to travel to places where she can observe wildlife. She fostered puppies for the SPCA for many years, and enjoys tennis, painting, visiting friends and traveling with her husband.
She and Barry hope to introduce many more family and friends to the exceptional and expert caring at Shaare Zedek and to continue to partner with the Hospital for many more years to come.
