Team Shaare Zedek
2024 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon

As many of you know I have been an avid runner for about 15 years. Since December 2019 I got more serious about my running by running two half marathons, culminating in my finishing the NYC Full marathon. In March, I will be taking on my next challenge, the United Airlines half-marathon through Brooklyn, Times Square and ending in Central Park.

Once again I am running with Team Shaare Zedek. I have a strong personal connection to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. My beloved parents, Alicia and Leon Isaacson, of blessed memory received much of their end of life care during their later years at Shaare Zedek in Jerusalem. I look back fondly at the time I spent there, mostly with my mother during her final days. The doctors were so supportive, the facilities very accommodating, with three daily minyanim, food and a place for me to rest. Shaare Zedek will always have a special place in my heart.

Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s staff is now working 24/7 to save and treat all those injured in the war with kindness, compassion and top medical care. Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem has treated more than 650 soldiers for physical injuries and over 400 people have been cared for in our mental health emergency unit. We are treating soldiers evacuated directly from the south. The patients arrive via helicopter to the adjacent athletic field and are immediately transferred to the Trauma Unit. Many of those patients arrive in serious condition and there are multiple cases where the dedication and experience of the staff has been instrumental in saving lives, limbs and vision. There is a remarkable sense of dedication in treating these patients and we can all feel a great sense of pride in Shaare Zedek’s place in the war effort.

My run will support the new underground emergency hospital being built now at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem
