Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is the largest and most advanced in Israel. The NICU complex includes 70 beds (of which at least 50 are full at any given time), and state-of-the-art respiratory and monitoring equipment allowing us to provide world-class health care for premature infants. Caring for our most vulnerable and tiniest patients, many of whom weigh less than a 1 lb. and cannot breathe on their own, is one of our highest priority needs.
The funds from this year’s College Bowl-A-Thon will dedicate an open incubator for the Shaare Zedek NICU.
Incubators keeps premature babies alive by mimicking the womb as carefully as possible to provide the same level of sterility and protection. Isolating the baby from the outside environment protects them from viruses, germs and other agents which are particularly dangerous to infants.
Thank you for joining us in helping to save the lives of so many babies in Israel! We are deeply grateful for your support and generosity.
